The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls soccer teams made sure Thursday’s trek to Alburnett was a business trip, as they came home with a pair of match victories over Cedar Valley Christian. The Golden Hawk girls opened the night shutting out the Huskies 2-0. Things were scoreless until Sophie Baker drove a penalty kick home in the 23rd minute to make it 1-0 Hawks. That’s where the Mid-Prairie advantage stood at the break, and well into the second half, until Niva Helmuth added an insurance tally in the 61st minute. Lockdown defense from the Hawks and a clean sheet with seven saves in goal for Kina Miller secured the victory. The win kept the Golden Hawks perfect at 4-0.
The Mid-Prairie boys scored their third straight victory, beating the Huskies 5-1. Five different players found the back of the net for the Hawks including Dylan Henry, Tucker Miller, Owen Trimpe, Evan Phillips and Jackson Miller. Beau Flynn, Noah Ford, and Grady Miller all had assists. Jacob Flynn made three saves in goal. The win moves Mid-Prairie to 3-2 on the year.
