The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls soccer teams are back on the pitch tonight when they welcome the West Branch Bears to Wellman. The Mid-Prairie boys are 3-3 this season after a 4-0 shut out loss to top 10 Dyersville Beckman on the road Friday. For the season, Mid-Prairie has been outscored 22-13. Nine different Mid-Prairie players have scored this year, led by Tucker Miller’s three goals and two each from Owen Trimpe and Noah Ford. Miller, Trimpe, Ford, Beau Flynn, Grady Miller and Jacob Flynn all have one assist. Joe Hall has made a team best 17 saves on the season. The West Branch boys are unbeaten at 4-0 this year. They are ranked No. 13 in Class 1A in the latest poll from the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association. Most recently the Bears shut out Davenport West 5-0. They have outscored their opponents 13-2 this season. Individual leaders include Christian Scire with five goals and Trenton Schutte with four assists. In goal, Shae Farmer has 11 saves. West Branch has won all three meetings against Mid-Prairie including a 4-3 victory last season.
The Golden Hawk girls enter play with a 4-1 record after their first defeat of the year Friday at Dyersville Beckman 5-1. Sophia Baker had the lone goal for the Hawks and Kina Miller made 11 saves. On the year, Mid-Prairie has outscored their opponents 17-7 with three defensive shut outs. Individual leaders include Baker’s seven goals and Miller’s four assists. Miller has also made 34 saves in goal. West Branch is 1-2 this year. They were shut out by Central Lee 3-0 in their last match. The Bears have been outscored 8-1 on the season. Emily Coleman has the lone West Branch goal this year, Caitlyn Harrison the only assist and in goal, Iva Senio has 53 saves. Mid-Prairie has beaten the Bears in all three of their previous meetings including a 2-1 victory last season.
