The Washington Performing Arts Committee presents Opera Iowa’s rendition of Beauty and the Beast, in English, at the Washington Area Performing Arts and Events Center this evening at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available online at WashingtonAuditorium.org or at the door one hour before the show. $20 for adults, $10 for college students. K-12 students are free. This newly commissioned 90-minute family-friendly production is sung in English. For over 35 years, OPERA Iowa has created magic in performance venues throughout the state. As the state’s largest and most expansive program in arts education, OPERA Iowa brings live musical performances designed specifically for young people and families. The eight-member OPERA Iowa Troupe features young professionals from across the country who are committed to inspiring their audiences through quality, live theatrical experiences. Washington is one of 60+ stops on the troupe’s tour of schools and community concert halls across the state of Iowa throughout February, March, and April.
