The Lone Tree Lions and Sigourney Savages sent their girls’ track and field teams out on the road Tuesday. Lone Tree was third in the team scoring at the Wildcat Relays in Durant, led by a victory for Vivian Zaruba. The sophomore won the 800-meter run in two minutes 42 seconds while also running a leg on the Lions’ four-by-800-meter relay that was a runner-up.
Sophomore Rylee Shield was second in the 200 and 400 meters, as was sophomore Alex Dautremont in the discus toss. Freshman Jazmine Nino and sophomore Hayden Yoder were third in the 1,500 and the shot put, respectively. Lone Tree also finished second in the sprint medley and third in the distance medley and the 4-by-100.
Sigourney got a big day from Addison Yates at the Rocket Relays in Eddyville. The freshman was second in the 3,000 meters and fourth in the 1,500. The Savages also finished fourth in the 4-by-400. While Sigourney heads back to Eddyville today, Lone Tree will be at the Pankoke Relays later this afternoon and evening at Winfield-Mount Union.
