Washington Demon girls’ golf cannot be beat, even when playing their longest tournament of the season. Washington was victorious in their first 18-hole meet of the season yesterday, winning in a 10-team field at the Oskaloosa Invitational at Edmunson Golf Course with a team score of 347, 49 strokes ahead of second place.
Leading the way was Demon senior Makenna Conrad, who was the individual tournament champion by shooting a four-over-par 76 and setting a new career-best score for 18 holes. Fellow senior Kaylin Long was third after shooting 88, while freshman Adalyn Long was two strokes behind and came in fifth. Senior Mallary Johnson also cracked the top 10 with a 93, while classmates Haley Mitchell and Alecia Goff fired rounds of 97 and 101, respectively. Washington will now play their final conference meet of the regular season when they next hit the course Monday in Burlington.
