The Washington Demon boys’ soccer team suffered just their second loss of the season with a 2-1 home defeat to Burlington yesterday. The Greyhounds struck first in the ninth minute and, after a free kick into the box set up by a Demon yellow card, they would strike again in the 51st minute to double their lead.
Washington would get on the board when a hand ball in the box created a penalty kick in the 65th minute that junior Isaac Gentry buried, but the Demons would not be able to get the equalizer as well. After starting the week ranked 10th in the state in Class 3A, Washington falls to 3-2 in the Southeast Conference and 5-2 overall. The Demons will look to bounce back Monday at home against Mount Pleasant.
