The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk track and field teams will be well represented at next week’s 113th annual Drake Relays in Des Moines. In total, Mid-Prairie will have seven events compete on the blue oval. The Golden Hawk girls have four events in action. Danielle Hostetler will run a pair of races. She qualified eighth in the field of 21 for the 1500 with her time of 4:43.75. She is also 11th in the field of 21 for the 3000 with a time of 10:27.22. The Hawks will have a pair relays in Des Moines. The team of Madeline Schrader, Amara Jones, Jovi and Tabitha Evans will run both the 4×100 and 4×200 on the blue oval. In the 4×1 Mid-Prairie is seeded 25th of 96 with their time of 50.81 seconds, in the 4×2 they are 21st in the field of 24 with a time of 1:47.35.

The Mid-Prairie boys are sending a trio of events to Des Moines. Cain Brown will compete in the high jump, where he qualified eighth in the field of 24, clearing 6’7” this season. He’s also in action on the long jump runway where he is seeded 15th in the field of 24 with a leap of 22′.5”. Golden Hawk Jayden Stafford will race in the wheelchair 400. He has the best time in the state this year at 1:07.13. He also owns the fastest time in the 100, 200 and 800.

The Drake Relays get underway Thursday at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
