A trio of Southeast Iowa Super Conference soccer teams came up short Monday evening, including both Columbus Wildcat teams. The girls fell 10-0 to Burlington Notre Dame, yielding five goals in each half in a loss that dropped Columbus to 2-6. The Wildcat boys held Notre Dame to just one first-half tally, but the Nikes would shut Columbus down and add on for a 3-0 victory that moves the ‘Cats down to 3-7.

The WACO Warriors got a first-half score to create just a one-goal deficit at halftime. But Central Lee junior Dante Merschman’s hat trick proved to be the difference in a 5-1 win for the Hawks. WACO falls to 2-5 ahead of the Warriors meeting Columbus Friday night. The Wildcat girls travel to Tipton for their next game tomorrow evening.
