The Mid-Prairie School Board met in regular session on Monday. The meeting began with the Hawk Highlight, recognizing retiring staff members. Superintendent, Brian Stone, commended the 7 individuals with decades of experience between them. “Jill Nisly was recognized with 14 years of service. Joyce Billups has provided 15 years of service to the district. Lois Dehogues was recognized with 22 years of service. Nora Kehoe was recognized with 25 years of service. Diane Miller, once again, 25 years of service, Wendy Allen with 31 years of service, and then to wrap things up with 32 years of service Melody Black was recognized.
Following consent items, the board approved Darren Lambert for the High School Head Football Coach position. They also approved an out-of-state trip for the Future Problem Solvers, who will be heading to Amherst, Massachusetts in June for the International Competition.
Two proposals for roof repairs at the middle school were approved. The first, which would replace the roof over the choir room, has a total cost of $26,423, while the second was approved in the amount of $21,097. The district will be working with DR and C Inc. on the project.
The Mid-Prairie Community School District Board of Education’s next meeting will be held on Monday, May 8 at 6:15 p.m. in the Central Office Community Room.
