Construction begins this month at Mid-Prairie East Elementary and Middle School as part of a major renovation project. The work is expected to continue into 2024.
At Mid-Prairie Middle School, additions will include a new STEM classroom, two new 7/8 classrooms, and new fifth grade classrooms. East Elementary is scheduled to construct a new classroom and bathroom in the second grade wing, along with four new classrooms in the Kindergarten wing.
The district is paying for these projects using $12.78 million generated by bonding against its allotment from the state sales tax, or SAVE fund. Also known as the penny tax, every district in the state receives SAVE funds and can spend the money on projects as needed.
As construction picks up, residents are advised that traffic will be impacted on 14th Street and H Avenue. For more information on the Mid-Prairie Community School District’s facilities projects, click here.
