The Hillcrest Academy boys soccer team dropped a Tuesday match to Southeast Iowa Superconference leading Mediapolis 3-0. MEPO jumped up 1-0 in the first minute when Blake Willems scored on a lofted shot that knuckleballed into the wind past the Hillcrest defense. The 13th minute proved to be unlucky for the Ravens as the Bulldogs doubled their lead on a Carl Hines strike. The score remained 2-0 at the break. Mediapolis added another insurance goal in the 50th minute when Jacob Grier connected. The windy conditions and tough physical defense made it tough on the Ravens to mount an attack, finishing the night with eight shots, three on goal and a trio of corner kicks. Kyle Neuschwander had a pair of saves in goal for Hillcrest. The Ravens are 4-3, the Bulldogs are 9-1. Both teams see Burlington Notre Dame next, with Hillcrest meeting the Nikes Thursday and MEPO Friday.
