Heritage Oaks is the site for Wednesday’s Southeast Iowa Superconference boys golf championships, featuring five teams from the KCII listening area.
The Hillcrest Academy boys enter play as one of two unbeaten teams remaining in the league at 8-0 on the season. They beat Columbus Monday 184-257 behind a 42 from Rowan Miller. On the year, the Ravens have a 173 average per nine led by Luke Schrock’s 41.
Winfield-Mt. Union is 14-15 this year. The Wolves dropped an 18-hole event Friday at New London 376-381 with Carter Loyd’s 86 the top score. The Wolves are currently ranked No. 12 in Class 1A by the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association. WMU has five ranked players in their lineup with Loyd highest in the poll at 18th. Andrew Brown is 51st, Jake Edwards 53rd, Nicholas Sparrow 72nd, and Max Edwards 80th. The Wolves have a team average of 375 per 18 this year with Loyd’s 86 best.
Columbus is 3-9 in conference play this season. The Wildcats lost to Hillcrest in Kalona Monday 184-257, despite Grant Watson’s 54. Columbus has a team average of 235 per nine led by Ryan Coil’s 57.
Lone Tree is 2-16 in Superconference play. They placed sixth at the Iowa Valley Invitational at Marengo Friday on a 203 team score.
Highland is 2-21 this year in conference. The Huskies dropped a Monday dual to Mediapolis at Blue Top Ridge. Highland has a 468 average per 18 holes this year. Peyton Yeggy’s 94 is best on the team.
Joining these five today will be Louisa-Muscatine, Pekin, Wapello, No. 27 in 2A Central Lee, Danville, Holy Trinity, Mediapolis, New London, Burlington Notre Dame, Van Buren and West Burlington. Action continues all day Wednesday at Heritage Oaks in Morning Sun.
