The 2023 Washington County Fair, to be held the week of July 16-21st, is bringing back the “Bucket of Junk Sculpture Contest.” Anyone is eligible to enter the contest, such as individuals, families, businesses, FFA, 4-H Clubs, etc. Beginning Monday, June 5th, five-gallon buckets of “junk” will be given to ten entries on a first-come, first-serve basis. All ten buckets will include the same number of items that are as close to identical as possible, with unique pieces, otherwise known as “junk.” You may clean, sand, weld, glue, cut, bolt, fasten, bend, shape, paint, or finish the items that you are provided. No pieces may be added; you may leave one item out. The object is to use all of the pieces to create a work of “art.” There is a $10.00 entry fee for each bucket. Constructed entries must be brought to the fair anytime starting Saturday, July 15th through Sunday, July 16th, by 5:00 p.m. Buckets of Junk will be auctioned off at the Washington County Fair with the date to be determined. Phone Lisa Clark at 319-750-2118 to reserve a bucket. Contestants will then be given information on where to pick up the buckets of junk.
