Summer is on the horizon, and that means summer jobs for many area high school students. Highland High School is doing its part to help them find employment once school is out with their Summer Job Fair on Monday, May 15.

The job fair is open to Highland students, as well as any high school students in the area who are seeking a job this summer. Peggy Schwab, Highland Counselor and Co-Adviser of the new FBLA chapter at the school, helped organize the event. When asked what students can do to prepare for the job fair, Schwab tells KCII, “I recommend that students bring a positive attitude, and maybe dress to impress a little bit because so much of the world is, and does happen, in first impressions. Showing up, being eager, having questions for employers would be helpful to them.” Students are also recommended to bring a copy of their resume if available.

In addition to inviting high school job seekers, Schwab also hopes to get more employers to attend, adding “If there are any employers in the area who are looking to hire, or would like to join the job fair they can reach out to me at pschwab@highlandhuskies.org and I would be happy to help them register.”

The Highland Summer Job Fair will be held from 2-3 p.m. Monday in the High School Gymnasium.
