At the Washington City Council meeting last week, discussion was had on the Capital Improvement Plan for the City. The plan covers the general summary of work that could be completed from fiscal year 2024 to fiscal year 2028. One of the main topics discussed was the Streetscape plan for the Downtown Washington District. Council member Elaine Moore shared her thoughts on where she believes the city’s priorities should lie, “Knowing that we have other things that are more pressing than the streetscape, where are we gonna come up with ten million at this point? It’s beautiful, yes it would be great, but streetscape versus our water line or sewer that is going to fail.” There was no final decision made about the Streetscape project, the City Council will be workshopping the Capital Improvement Plan. The plan is usually discussed during one of the fall meetings.
