After an exciting golf season in southeast Iowa, a pair of area schools will be represented at their respective state tournaments. In Class 3A, the Washington Demons will send Roman Roth to Ames to represent the orange and black. Roth qualified by winning the individual district championship Monday at Bos Landen Golf Club in Pella. The Demon junior shot an even par round of 72 to take the title. In Class 1A, the Hillcrest Academy boys ended a long state drought. The Ravens won the 1A District Championship in Coralville Tuesday with their team score of 332 to remain undefeated on the season. This is their first trip to state as a team since 1997. All boys state tournaments will take place May 22nd and 23rd, with the 1A meet at the Ames Golf and Country Club and the 3A tournament at Veenker Memorial Golf Course in Ames.KCII will have updates at the top of each hour during the state tournament next week with updated results available free, online at KCIIradio.com.
