In the weeks leading up to an expansion project at their building, the Wellman-Scofield Public Library recently moved to their temporary site. The library will be housed in the old Driscoll Studio Building at 257 Eighth Avenue in Wellman, while construction is underway.
Library Director, Carrie Geno, was appreciative of the dozens of volunteers who helped streamline the moving process. “We had probably about 20 volunteers who came out and joined us. It went really smoothly. We could not have done that without their help. They were absolutely phenomenal.”
With all of the books, shelving, and technology set up at the new site, the library is open for the summer with their regular hours and activities. A schedule of their events can be found on their website at wellmanlibrary.org.
The project will expand into the unoccupied portion of the municipal building, opening up walls, and doubling the space of the previous library. Construction is expected to start in June and be completed in the fall.
