The first home baseball game of the season is tonight for the Washington Demons as they take on Muscatine, and you can hear all the action on KCII. Washington suffered a 5-0 loss to Highland in their season debut Monday night, falling victim to a perfect game from Husky pitcher Ethan Paisley.
The Demons are trying to move the program forward after six wins last season and only 30 total across the previous 3 years. Behind veterans like senior Ethan Patterson and young players like sophomores Aaron Boone and Conner Leyden, head coach TJ Rausch believes his team is headed in the right direction. But, to get where they want to go, Rausch tells KCII Sports that his players have to be willing to learn a few hard-knock lessons along the way.
“Baseball’s a game of failure,” Rausch says, “so the team that can typically deal with failure the best is the team that usually can come out on top. That’s been our point of emphasis. We’re here, we’re putting in the work, let’s commit to it on and off the field.”
The Muscatine Muskies are 2-3 to start 2023 after getting five wins last season. Washington meets Muscatine, and you can hear every pitch on 106.1 FM and streaming on KCIIradio.com. Coverage begins with the Dino’s Pizza & Steakhouse Pregame Show this evening at 6:30.
