The Washington Demons dropped the finale of their conference baseball series with Mount Pleasant 9-5 last night. After winning the first two games at home Monday, Washington was trailing 2-0 on the road until they scored three runs in the third inning, including a two-run single from senior shortstop Ethan Patterson.
Mount Pleasant rallied to take a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the third, but the Demons went back on top 5-4 by taking advantage of a pair of Panther errors in the fourth. Mount Pleasant would tie the game up in the fifth and would ultimately score four runs on three hits in the sixth inning to grab the lead for good.
James Strabala suffered the pitching loss for Washington, giving up three earned runs on three hits and five walks in two-and-a-third innings. The Demons drop to 2-1 in the Southeast Conference and 2-4 overall. Washington will be back in action tomorrow for a doubleheader in Davenport.
