The Keota Eagle baseball team showed the ultimate never-quit attitude Friday night, as, despite being no-hit by HLV, they still went on to win a pitcher’s duel with the Warriors 2-1. Sophomore Ashton Galindo reaching on an error and junior Aiden McGuire drawing a walk would prove to make their way across home plate despite no hits on the night for Keota.
Eagle sophomore Billie Kindred summoned a strong night on the pitcher’s mound, giving up no earned runs on five hits in six innings to give his team the win. McGuire took over on the mound in the seventh and got the save as Keota wins its third straight to reach 4-4 in the South Iowa Cedar League and 8-6 overall.
The Eagles found themselves down 6-0 on the softball diamond before they ever scored Friday. HLV went on to win 14-2, keeping Keota softball winless on the season. Both Eagle teams are back in action tonight at Lynnville-Sully.
