The Washington County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday. On the agenda was discussion and action regarding a 28E agreement with PAWS & More Animal Shelter related to stray animals. Shelter Director Amber Talbot explains what the agreement entails. “Now with all of you and the other communities that’s what were putting in place going forward with our new future of our new facility, we just kind of wanted to re-solidify our partnership services. Most of the animals though, I will say, the pickups are not that excessive. And I’ll again, we’ve talked about this before, it’s all just based on the state requirements for animal control. Either the Sheriff’s Department, or other contracted agencies require that animal control fulfillment and so, municipalities, counties are only required for that seven day hold time somewhere for that animal. So that’s all that you guys are responsible for paying for, so, you know if an animal is in our care after that seven days we absorb any additional expense with that.” The agreement will begin July 1st 2023 and continue until June 30th 2026.
