The Winfield-Mount Union Wolves put on an offensive clinic on the softball diamond Monday night in defeating Danville 21-7 in five innings. Trailing 5-1 going into the fourth inning, WMU exploded for 12 runs in the frame and scored another eight in the fifth to put Danville away.

Leading the way for the Wolves were senior Keely Malone and freshman Katie Miller, who had three hits each and combined to scored five runs. Senior Anna Anderson swatted a home run as part of her two hits, while freshman Quin Smith finished with two hits, two runs scored and three runs batted in. Despite having just one hit, sophomore Josie Nelson still scored four times and had three RBI for Winfield-Mount Union, which improved to 4-7.

WMU baseball was not as fortunate, as a five-spot from Danville in the second inning powered the Bears to a 6-0 victory. Sophomore Riley Kaalberg had two hits for the Wolves, while freshman pitcher Trevor Phillips gave up only two hits and piled up nine strikeouts in four-and-two-thirds innings as Winfield-Mount Union dropped to 4-7.
