The Highland Huskies bashed the softball in a 13-1 victory in four innings against Mediapolis Monday. Junior shortstop Sarah Burton was terrific in the leadoff spot, putting up four hits and four runs scored.

Senior Abbi Stransky added three hits, two runs scored and two runs batted in for Highland, while sophomore Lilly Barre also scored four times and junior Peyton Brun had four RBI. Senior pitcher Jessica Kraus gave up only one hit over four innings and struck out seven as the Huskies improved to 9-6.

Highland baseball came up short Monday against Mediapolis, losing a 1-0 pitcher’s duel after the game’s only run crossed home plate in the fourth inning. Senior pitcher Ethan Paisley gave up three hits and two walks in a complete-game effort and racked up seven strikeouts, but the Huskies still fell to 6-7.
