The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball and baseball teams are looking at long road trips this weekend. The Golden Hawk girls are headed to the Dodger Invitational at the Harlan Rogers Sports Complex in Fort Dodge, the home of the Iowa State Softball Tournament. Mid-Prairie is 11-8 on the year, 8-4 in the River Valley Conference, after a marquee win, 3-2 Thursday, over No. 1 in 2A Iowa City Regina in Kalona. This year, Mid-Prairie is hitting .388 as a team, with 101 runs on 133 hits. They are led by Sophie Miller’s .545 average and 24 hits. Brenna Jehle has a team best 17 driven in and Dakota Mitchell has scored a team high 17 times. In the circle, the Hawks have a 3.50 team ERA in 68 innings. Opponents hit .238 against them with 66 hits, 34 earned runs, 20 walks and 58 strikeouts. Sydney Knebel has worked 49 frames with a 3.14 ERA. Joining Mid-Prairie at this weekend’s event are Ames, No. 1 in Class 5A Ankeny, Atlantic, Sioux City Bishop Heelan, Cedar Rapids Kennedy, No. 2 in Class 2A Central Springs, No. 15 in Class 2A Waterloo Columbus, No. 4 in Class 2A Lisbon, No. 4 in Class 5A Muscatine, No. 4 in Class 1A Newell-Fonda, No. 1 in Class 2A Iowa City Regina, No. 6 in Class 1A Fort Dodge St. Edmond, No. 1 in Class 3A Williamsburg, and No. 8 in Class 4A Winterset. The Golden Hawk baseball team has their sights set on Treynor High School and a Saturday morning game with the Cardinals as part of their annual trip to the College World Series. The Golden Hawks are 14-6 on the year, 10-1 and first place in the River Valley Conference after a 7-0 win over Iowa City Regina Thursday in Wellman to take the season series from the Regals. On the year, the Hawks are hitting .277 as a group with 114 runs on 143 hits. Karson Grout leads the team at .400 with 24 hits and 16 runs scored. Alex Bean has a team best 18 driven in. The Mid-Prairie team ERA is 2.92 in 134 innings with a .221 opponent average. They have allowed 114 hits, 56 earned runs, 66 walks and 147 strikeouts. Brock Harland, Collin Miller and Brady Weber are a combined 8-0 in 54 innings with a 0.75 ERA.
Treynor is 8-4 this season, 9-2 and second place in the Western Iowa Conference, following a doubleheader split with AHSTW Thursday. This year the Cardinals are hitting .284 as a team with 118 runs on 112 hits. Jaxon Schumacher has a .543 average with 19 hits to lead the team. Brady Wallace has driven in 16 and Charlie Schrage has scored 16 times. The Cardinals collective ERA is 3.70 in 95 innings with a .256 opponent average on 120 hits, 50 earned runs, 35 walks and 113 strikeouts. Ryan Bach is 3-2 in 21 innings with a 2.30ERA.
