Just in time for summer, a new playground has opened in Columbus Junction. It is located in Eden Park, northwest of town at 17426 County Road X17.
The playground features an artificial turf surface, rope ladders and bridges, and equipment with natural designs to blend in with the surrounding landscape. Roughly three miles of mowed trail run nearby, offering opportunities for nature walks. Future plans for the playground include installing a water bottle/filling station and drinking fountain, as well as building a reservable picnic shelter.
Eden Park is a 146 acre section of land including grasslands, wetlands, two creeks, and forests. It was donated to Louisa County Conservation by Donna Eden in 2010 to be used as a public park.
