The Keota Eagles suffered a pair of conference defeats on the diamond Friday night, including baseball getting blanked by Iowa Valley 4-0. Neither side scored until the fifth inning, but Iowa Valley pitcher Nolan Kriegel had already held Keota to just two hits by the time the Tigers scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Senior Caden Knapp allowed only two more Eagle hits over the last two innings, as junior Evan Vittetoe’s two knocks and base hits by seniors Dalton Dodd and Caleb Waterhouse were all Keota could muster in falling to 5-6 in the South Iowa Cedar League and 9-8 overall.
Eagle softball yielded 15 runs to Iowa Valley in the first frame and lost 22-2 in three innings, keeping Keota winless this season. Both Eagle squads next battle their rivals from Sigourney tonight.
