The road was unkind to the Hillcrest Academy baseball and softball teams Wednesday when they traveled to Donnellson for a pair of crossover Southeast Iowa Superconference games against the Central Lee Hawks. The Raven baseball team was walked off by the Hawks 6-5. Hillcrest scored twice in their half of the first, the Hawks drew even with two of their own in the fourth. The Ravens took the lead back at 3-2 with a run in the fifth. Central Lee scored twice in the sixth to go up 4-3. Down to their final three outs, Hillcrest found two runs to see-saw back in front at 5-4. Turnabouts was fair play as Central Lee scored two runs of their own in their final at-bat to grab the 6-5 win. Central Lee out hit the Ravens 7-5 in the game. Kayden Ames had three hits and two RBI to lead the Central Lee offense. James Hemingsen also drove in a pair. Blake Davis got the win working three innings in relief, giving up two hits, two runs, walking one and striking out four.

Top Raven bat was Grant Bender with two hits. Rowan Miller had the lone RBI for Hillcrest. Luke Schrock scored twice, Seth Ours, Miller and Bender each came home once. Miller took the loss on the hill, allowing one hit, two runs, a walk and a strikeout in a third of an inning. With the win, Central Lee is now 12-6, Hillcrest Academy falls to 16-4.

The Raven softball team was no-hit by Central Lee’s Elaina Barlow in a 15-0 three inning loss Wednesday. Malia Yoder’s walk was the lone Raven baserunner as the Hawk’s eighth grader struck out two in three frames. The Central Lee offense finished with 15 hits of their own. Layla Gonterman and Shanna Buford each drove in two and Alix Congdon scored three times. Central Lee is now 16-7 as Hillcrest falls to 7-14. The Ravens take on Highland tonight.
