The Washington City Council approved the purchase of a new truck for the Washington Fire Department during their Tuesday meeting. Washington Fire Chief Brendan DeLong gives some background, “If you recall two years ago I was here at the same time asking for a vehicle, well long story short that got ordered, but it never got fulfilled so it got canceled a few weeks ago. So it’s unfortunate that the pricing has gone as high as it did, but I really worked hard to try and find something that would fit our needs, and stay budget minded.” A large portion of the cost of the truck was already approved and budgeted for. The remaining portion of the payment will be coming from the railroad funds that the city has received from the railroad merger.
