The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball team will be tested this weekend against top tear competition at the Linn-Mar Lion Invitational. The Golden Hawks are 13-13 on the season and 9-6 in the River Valley after an impressive 5-0 win on the road against No. 15 in Class 3A West Liberty Thursday night. The Hawks are hitting .344 with 142 runs on 217 hits. Sophie Miller is at .476 with 39 hits, Dakota Mitchell has scored 23 times and Sydney Knebel has driven in 22 to lead the team. In the circle, Mid-Prairie’s team ERA is 4.04 with a .278 opponent average on 165 hits, 80 earned runs, 41 walks and 101 strikeouts. Knebel has gone 94 innings with a 3.06 ERA.
Joining Mid-Prairie in the corridor this weekend are Alburnett, Center Point Urbana, No. 4 in Class 4A Dallas Center Grimes, Durant, No. 3 in Class 4A Fort Dodge, Fort Madison, Iowa City High, No. 8 in Class 5A Linn-Mar, No. 3 in Class 3A Mount Vernon, No. 4 in Class 5A Muscatine, No. 10 in Class 4A North Scott, Northeast Goose Lake, No. 9 in Class 5A Pleasant Valley, West Delaware, and No. 7 in Class 4A Cedar Rapids Xavier.
