Following an agreement signed in April of this year, the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with the Columbus Community School District as well as the City of Columbus Junction to place a School Resource Deputy in the District. Last week, the Sheriff’s Office announced their hire for the position.

Louisa County Reserve Deputy Justin Walker has been hired to a full time Deputy status, and will begin his role in Columbus schools during the 2023-24 school year. Walker is tasked with protecting students, staff, and visitors, as well as building positive relationships between the School District and the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office.

Walker has been a Reserve Deputy for the Sheriff’s Office for the past three years, and a member of Wapello Fire and Rescue for the last six. He will be completing certifications for the next six months along with further training with Wapello School Resource Officer, Kody Aplara.
