One more regular season tune-up awaits the Hillcrest Academy Raven baseball team as they take the diamond Saturday for a contest against the Prince of Peace Irish in Kalona. The Ravens are 17-4 this year, 12-0 undefeated North Division champions in the Southeast Iowa Superconference, after a 12-0 Senior Night win over Highland Thursday. Hillcrest is hitting .341 as a team with 209 runs on 183 hits. Luke Schrock has a team best .492 average with 36 runs scored and 30 hits. Grant Bender leads with 33 RBI. The Raven staff has an ERA of 1.92 with a .209 opponent average on 93 hits, 33 earned runs 42 walks and 116 strikeouts. Schrock, Bender, Jace Rempel and Seth Ours are a combined 10-0 with an ERA of 0.50.
Prince of Peace is 4-14 this season, 3-7, fifth place in the Tri-Rivers Conference. They dropped a contest to Springville Thursday 5-4. This year the Irish are hitting .214 collectively with 83 runs on 91 hits. Hakeal Powell is at .394, Sam Schilling has 18 hits and 15 runs scored and Carson DeBo has driven in 12. On the mound, Prince of Peace has a 7.52 ERA with a .299 opponent average, 146 hits, 116 earned runs 113 walks and 112 strikeouts. Jaxon Dehner, Tate Ruden and Carson Newcomb all have one win each and a combined ERA of 6.25. Varsity action starts at noon today in Kalona.
