The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball team returns home for the first time in two weeks Thursday when they host Durant on Senior Night in Kalona. The Hawks are 14-17 overall, 11-6 in the River Valley Conference after starting the week with a sweep of the Wildcats in Durant Monday by 8-1 and 2-1 scores, before falling to rival Washington on the road Wednesday 4-3. The Golden Hawks are hitting .344 as a team with 142 runs on 217 hits. Sophie Miller has a .476 average with 39 hits to lead the way. Sydney Knebel has a team best 22 driven in and Dakota Mitchell has scored a club best 23 runs. In the circle, the Hawks have a team ERA of 4.04 with a .278 opponent average on 165 hits, 80 earned runs 41 walks and 101 strikeouts. Knebel has worked 94 innings with a 3.06 ERA.
Durant is 10-24 this year, 7-10 in the RVC, dropping nine of their last 10 overall. Their last time on the diamond was against Mid-Prairie Monday. On the year, the Wildcats are hitting .234 collectively with 129 runs on 105 hits. Bailey Kraklio is the leader with a .375 average on 24 hits with 12 RBI. Isla Petersen has a team best 14 runs scored. In the circle, they have a team ERA of 4.69 with a .255 opponent average, 163 hits, 85 earned runs, 61 walks and 112 strikeouts. Allison Toft has a 5-3 record in 56 innings with a 2.36 ERA. The Wildcats have won 18 of the last 26 in the series, but Mid-Prairie has won four straight. The Golden Hawks will honor seniors Madeline Schrader and Molly Yoder prior to the contest.
