The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball team is back on the diamond today and tomorrow at the Rick Doran Tournament at Pearl Field in Iowa City, home of the Iowa Hawkeyes. The field will feature top level competition as Mid-Prairie’s last tune-up before the 3A regional tournament next week. The Hawks enter the day with a 15-17 overall record after finishing 12-6 in the River Valley Conference, with a 10-6 win in Kalona Thursday over Durant on Senior Night. This season the Hawks are hitting .338 as a team with 175 runs on 285 hits. Sophie Miller is the leader with a .439 average and 47 hits. Dakota Mitchell has a team high 30 runs scored and Sydney Knebel 27 batted in. Mid-Prairie’s team ERA is 3.77 with a .285 opponent average, 228 hits, 100 earned runs 43 walks and 129 strikeouts. Knebel has a 3.26 ERA in the circle.

While in Iowa City, Mid-Prairie will match up with Class 4A Charles City, No. 2 in Class 5A Waukee Northwest, No. 10 in Class 4A North Scott, and No. 1 in Class 3A Williamsburg.
