With mental health becoming an increasingly discussed topic in society, a new clinic is scheduled to open in Richland later this year.

Samantha Agan is a licensed independent social worker who is living her dream of starting her own therapy private practice. Called New Thoughts Therapy, the clinic is operating through telehealth while construction is underway on its eventual building. Tentative plans are to have the building completed in August.

When asked about her inspiration for starting the practice, Agan told KCII, “I know that when I was younger, there were times that I had struggled off and on. There’s just not a lot of mental health [options], especially in rural Iowa where I’ve grown up. Being able to provide that to others is very important to me.”

Agan went on to add that anyone seeking services for their own mental health can find therapy options at psychologytoday.com or therapist.com. To reach out to Agan, contact newthoughtstherapyllc@gmail.com or call 641-895-2149.
