The KCII Severe Weather Action team was live on the air Wednesday for two Severe Thunderstorm Warnings issued in Washington County and southeast Iowa. Just after 8 am, the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the Northwest portion of Washington, Northern Keokuk, Iowa, and Johnson Counties until 9 am. Another Severe Thunderstorm Warning was then issued for Northeast Washington, Southern Johnson, and Northwest Louisa Counties until 9:30 a.m. The threats with these storms were strong winds, possible hail, and torrential rainfall. Wind gusts up to 45 mph were documented in Hills. A total of 1.25” of rain fell in Wellman, Kalona, and Riverside. With 1” of rain falling in Hills, Lone Tree, and Nichols.
