The Columbus Wildcats put up a solid season on the softball diamond, going 11-10 this summer and 9-5 in conference play. Those efforts have been rewarded with six all-conference selections from the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North.
Sophomore Lily Coil makes the first team as a unanimous choice. The shortstop’s .623 batting average was the third highest in the state this season across all classes. Coil came up with 38 total hits, including eight doubles, five triples and three home runs, while also posting 34 runs scored and 24 runs batted in.
Freshman Kennedy Woepking represents Columbus on the second team. The pitcher posted a 4.43 earned-run average in almost 62 innings of work. Senior Victoria Howell is a second-team infielder after scoring 15 runs and driving in another 12, while sophomore outfielder Aracely Garza is also on the second team after finishing with 12 RBI and scoring 10 times.
Honorable mention goes to senior Sera Vela, who hit .400 with four doubles, 11 RBI and 16 runs scored. Wildcat eighth-grader Ellie Sanders also receives honorable mention after batting .421 and scoring 24 runs.
