The Washington County Riverboat Foundation announced its 2nd quarter city grants last week. Wellman and Kalona were two of the eight cities in Washington County receiving funds through the Municipal Grant Program, which totaled over $335,000 this quarter.
A grant in the amount of $36,958.29 was awarded to the City of Wellman, while Kalona will receive $62,997.06. Since 2006, Wellman has been the recipient of $1,539,851.66. The City of Kalona has been given $2,577,725.92. Funds received by the cities of Washington County are programmed by each City Council.
WCRF is the nonprofit license holder for the Riverside Casino & Golf Resort, which provides the entirety of its funding. Each quarter, the Foundation distributes 25% of its total revenues directly to eight cities in Washington County, based on population. Since the opening of the Casino in 2006, WCRF has granted $14,745,911.05 in total Municipal Grants.
