It was another successful summer of softball for the Highland Huskies, winning 18 total games and finishing second in their division of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference with an 11-3 record. Their excellence has been recognized with five players making first-team all-Super Conference North and 10 total players receiving all-conference honors.

Senior Jessica Kraus was a unanimous selection as a first-team pitcher. Kraus posted a 14-5 record and 2.21 earned-run average in the circle this season, the second-lowest ERA in the Super Conference North. The senior piled up 122 strikeouts in over 101 innings pitched and had a rate of walks and hits per innings pitched of just 1.12.

Infielders Sarah Burton and Peyton Brun both make the first team in their junior seasons. Burton led Highland with 34 hits and 34 stolen bases on her way to a .358 batting average, four home runs, 21 runs batted in and 40 runs scored. Brun hit .389 with a team-high 11 extra-base hits, 28 RBI and 15 stolen bases.

Senior Abbi Stransky is a first-team utility player after leading the Huskies with 28 RBI and batting .301 with six doubles, three homers and 17 steals. Outfielder MyLei Smith hit .342 and scored 19 times on her way to making the first team in her senior season.

Sophomore infielder Lilly Barre had team highs of a .402 batting average and 44 runs scored while also swatting seven doubles and stealing 28 bases on her way to second-team honors. Senior Katelyn Waters also makes the second team after hitting .262 at the plate and only committing two errors in the outfield defensively. Junior catcher Madison Beeson posted a .984 fielding percentage on her way to the second team.

Junior pitcher Grace Prybil’s 2.91 ERA was third-lowest in the conference and helps her earn honorable mention all-conference. Junior Abigail Pierson batted .284 with seven doubles and 27 runs driven in and also receives an honorable mention.
