KCII News spoke with U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley about the Disclosing Foreign Influence in Lobbying Act and the Lobbying Disclosure Improvement Act. Here is what he had to say, “But we want to know what people are doing working with foreign businesses or lobbying for foreign countries. What they’re doing, we’re entitled to that information. We don’t say that lobbying for a foreign country is bad, but it is something that you ought to have a right to know.  Just like if you are lobbying for John Deere, you have to register and say how much money you’re doing. So this removes loopholes in the law that we have that people can avoid disclosures of foreign influence.” This bill requires registered lobbyists to disclose any foreign countries or political parties that are involved in the direction, planning, supervision, or control of the lobbyist’s activities.
