Last week, Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate announced that nominations for the 2023 John Lewis Youth Leadership Award are now open.

The award, which was established in 2021, recognizes gifted, civic-minded young people who exemplify service, participation, and integrity. Recipients must be between the ages of 18 and 25, demonstrate the desire to improve the quality of life in their community, and show a meaningful commitment to addressing civil rights issues, including but not limited to voting rights.

Nominations are currently being accepted through October 6, with two Iowans selected as recipients. Winners will be recognized in December. To nominate someone for the John Lewis Youth Leadership Award, click here.
