Today, we’re starting our KCII Top 10 Countdown of the biggest area high school sports stories of 2022-2023. At number 10 is WACO basketball player Ellah Kissell scoring her 1,000th career point.

It took just her second made field goal of the Warriors’ second game of the season for Kissell to cross the 1,000-point mark. Kissell would finish her senior season with 510 total points scored, good for an average of over 22 per game and easily the highest point total in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North.

On her way to a third straight all-conference selection and making the Class 1A all-state team, Kissell finished her career with a total of 1,384 points, giving her a per-game average of 15.7. Kissell also sets a new career scoring record at WACO.
