Local players took the pitch at Hillcrest Academy in Kalona for the annual Raven soccer camp earlier this month. More than 50 students from Kindergarten through eighth grade participated in this year’s camp. The early morning session included those Kindergarten through fourth grade with middle school players on the field later. Focus for younger athletes included dribbling, passing, kicking and games and activities to help them practice those skills.

Work for the older group centered around skill development, 5 v 5, 6 v 2, keep away, and other opportunities to practice skills in game-like situations.

Camp was under the direction of Hillcrest head boys soccer coach Marcus Miller, along with current Raven boys and girls players.
