A Salem woman was arrested and charged following a traffic stop last Friday. At approximately 6 p.m. on July 21, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office attempted to conduct the stop in the 2600 grid of Perkins Road south of New London. The vehicle exhibited no registration plates, and the driver, identified as 33-year-old Samantha Sammons was found to not possess a valid driver’s license along with having an active no-contact order.

Sammons accelerated away from the patrolling Sheriff’s Office vehicles, and was followed to the back of a property in the 2500 grid of Perkins Road. It was there that Sammons was taken into custody. She was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance third or subsequent offense, both class D felonies, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, both simple misdemeanors, and violation of a no-contact order, a simple misdemeanor.

The investigation is ongoing, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday, July 31.
