A Toronto man was sentenced to federal prison last week for illegal firearm possession by a felon. Twenty-two-year-old David Tyler Galloway received the 30-month sentence on Tuesday, July 18 following a guilty plea in January.

At the guilty plea, Galloway admitted he unlawfully possessed a firearm in September of 2019. Galloway sold the firearm to an individual after arranging to sell it and psilocybin mushrooms to the buyer. Galloway was previously convicted of possessing a firearm as a felon in Cedar County, and received a deferred judgment in 2019. He will be required to serve a three-year term of supervised release following his prison term. There is no parole in the federal system.

The case was investigated by the Iowa Department of Public Safety Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Cedar County Sheriff’s Department, Muscatine Sheriff’s Department, Muscatine Police Department, Louisa County Sheriff’s Office, Clarence Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
