The Horse and Pony 4-H Club earned first place with their hay bale decorated as the cowardly lion at the horse barn.
“There’s no place like home … Washington County Fair” was the theme of the 4-H hay bale decorating contest at the Washington County Fair this year. Eleven clubs decorated bales with a variety of yellow brick roads, Wizard of Oz Characters, fair favorites, and so much more. First place went to the Horse & Pony Club for their walk down the emerald road, emerald road for 4-H emerald green, entitled “There’s No Place like the Horse Barn.” Second place was awarded to the Highlanders 4-H Club for their walk down the emerald road. Third place went to the Franklin Cubs with their scene of four Wizard of Oz animals heading home to the little red round barn. This was a great way for 4-H club members to work on a project together that shares their enthusiasm for the fair and showcases their artistic creativity.
