fun-in-the-sun

Tomorrow, residents and guests are welcome to Wellman’s North Park for their second annual Fun in the Sun event. Kids of all ages are invited to enjoy games, water activities, and food from 4-7 p.m. Thursday.

Recreations Manager for the City of Wellman, Brenda Reasor, tells KCII her inspiration for starting the event last year, and putting it on again this summer. “I was just looking for something fun for the kids to do before they go back to school. So last year we bought some slip and slides and splash pads and had some free food in the park. We did it during the daytime last year, so this year I wanted to switch it up a little bit and try to open it up to people who aren’t in town during the day.”

In addition to the inflatable water slide and other fun activities, the Wellman Skating Rink will provide free popsicles and water. Four different food trucks will be on hand selling additional refreshments, including Kona Ice, Freeman Foods, Stone Wall Pizza, and Buen Provecho Spanish Caribbean Food.

There is no registration for this event. Anyone interested can simply show up and enjoy the evening.
