A Burlington man was arrested and charged last week for sexual assault of a minor. The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation following a report received on July 26.

As a result of the investigation, it was determined that 21-year-old Austin Michael Fenton had been sexually involved with a 14-year-old. On August 10, Fenton met with Louisa County detectives at the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office and confessed to having sexual encounters with the victim on more than one occasion. He also admitted to knowing that the victim was 14 years old.

Due to Fenton’s admission of guilt along with other evidence, he was arrested and charged with third-degree sexual assault, a class C felony. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Wednesday, August 30 at 9 a.m.
