At the Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, discussion was held on giving signing authority on behalf of the board for the replacement of communications equipment that had been damaged in the March 2023 EF4 tornado near Wellman. Supervisor Jack Seward Jr. explains, “There are three levels of insurance that are involved in the roughly five to six hundred thousand dollar loss that we suffered during that tornado in March. Our primary insurance is through ICAP, but the other thing is the invoices from RACOM to replace the equipment need to go through the Board of Supervisors because the Board of Supervisors are actually the owners of the equipment.” The signing authority is for both RACOM and associated insurance coverage documents. The board voted to name Jack Seward Jr and Cara Sorrels the signing authority going forward.
