With the official kickoff of a new high school football season one week away, a pair of local teams will be getting as close to live reps as they can with scrimmages tonight.

That includes the WACO Warriors, last season’s state runner-up in 8-man football. WACO will travel to Central City for a scrimmage this evening starting at 5:30. It’s a rematch of a playoff battle last year that the Warriors won 48-12.

In Class 1A, Sigourney-Keota will host Davis County for a scrimmage this evening beginning at 7 o’clock, the second straight season that the teams have met in the preseason. The Cobras were 8-3 last season.
