Northern Strike is one of the Department of Defense’s largest reserve component readiness exercises. This year, the 294th Medical Company Area Support (MCAS) from Washington took part in the training which was held at Camp Grayling in Michigan.

On August 7, medical squads, including the 294th MCAS were able to experience a cutting-edge drone system that can detect casualties from the sky and assess their vital signs. This innovative technology has been in the works for several years, and will be a game-changer in disaster response scenarios. Members of the 294th MCAS also practiced operating a Role II medical facility.

The 294th Medical Company Area Support includes the Medical Treatment Squad, which operates on the field, performing lifesaving measures for those wounded in combat. Through collaboration with the Army Medical Research and Development Command’s Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center, the goal is to continue making strides in medical practices in challenging environments.
